Properly brushing your teeth is extremely important for your oral hygiene. Doing it twice a day will prevent 70% of all the oral problems. It is important to do brushing in a proper method to get most of the benefit.
Here are the steps to brushing your teeth properly:
1. Squeeze a pea-sized amount of toothpaste:
Using too much of toothpaste will cause over lather which will tempt you to spit and finish brushing too early. Also, make sure you use a toothpaste containing fluorine to prevent plaque and bacteria from attacking your teeth.
2. Hold the brush 45-degree angle at your gums:
As per the research of dentists and scientists, it is proven that brushing your teeth at a 45- degree angle is one of the most effective techniques for cleaning teeth and gingiva.
3. Use small and gentle circular strokes:
Though this technique is a little bit more time consuming, it prevents your gums from harsh and harmful torture of the bristles as it maintains the gum line. You can, however, use the back and forth technique for brushing your molars.
4. Brushing the outer surface first and move towards the inner surface:
Try starting at the outside lower left teeth, moving to the outside lower right, then outside upper right to the upper left. Change to inside uppers and brushing inside upper right, inside lower right, and finally inside lower left. Maintaining a systematic routine will help you cover the whole surface area of your teeth.
5. Rinse your mouth after brushing:
Swish it in your mouth several times with clean water until you feel no toothpaste left in your mouth. Use a piece of dental floss and mouthwash if required after the whole process.
